I had the pleasure of seeing you today for my one-year follow-up appointment after bilateral hip replacement surgery.
"Dear Dr. Metwally:

I had the pleasure of seeing you today for my one-year follow-up appointment after bilateral hip replacement surgery.  To say that the surgery was a success is an understatement.

Travel was a passion for me.  When I could no longer walk down my street without great pain in my hips I knew it was time to have surgery. I went to your office for a consultation March, 2016.  You said that both of my hips showed severe narrowing of the joint spaces.  You suggested I consider having bilateral hip replacement surgery (operating on both hips at the same time) rather than schedule two successive hip surgeries.  I was ready to restore my life to full activity and I agreed to schedule bilateral surgery in May, 2016. The day following surgery I was out of pain for the first time in five years. I followed protocol and after the surgery and a short stay in the hospital’s post-surgical rehab program  I continued out-patient physical therapy where I progressed quickly from using a walker to using a cane to walking without the aid of any device. Within four months I was walking 1-2 miles a day and in March, 2017 I traveled to Australia and New Zealand where I was comfortably walking and hiking 3-5 miles per day.

I continue to marvel at how I have been restored to my normal active life which includes a passion for new travel adventures.

Thank you for the pure “joy” I feel for having had successful hip surgery.
Respectfully,

Frann Wolfe"
